PhD student Neurophysiology @ UHasselt

In the laboratory of neurophysiology  (Jean-Michel Rigo & Bert Brône) we study cellular neurophysiological processes in the developing brain.  The glycine receptor alpha2 plays an important role in the neuronal development and disruption of its function is linked to autism.  The research focus of this specific project is on the subcellular localization of the glycine receptor alpha2 and on the importance of this localization on its function in neuronal networks in the brain.  State of the art fluorescence imaging equipment is available in the institute through collaboration with copromotor Prof. Jelle Hendrix. In addition, the scholar will take up a limited teaching duty in the faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences of Hasselt University.
